Quick Transmigration: Manual Mode [BL]
5.3 Future In-law
When the school forum was getting heated as the ever-cold school grass suddenly got into a relationship rumor, the parties involved were in their own pink bubble world.
As they left the school gate, many pairs of scrutinizing eyes were on them, specifically the Beta next to the outstanding Alpha.
"That's him? He looks so... normal."
"Then what about that Omega? I heard that when he transferred to class 10-A, he got pretty close with the school grass."
"Although it is a bit of a mismatch, they somehow look... very compatible."
"Yeah... they actually do."
Xie An did not care much about the surrounding murmuring, he had spend too many years living in rumors and scrutiny that these kids hardly fazed him.
On the other hand, Chang Ru, who usually had a cool face, was nervous with his tightened jaw and frowning brows.
It could be easily mistaken that Chang Ru was feeling regret or ashamed for walking next to an ordinary Beta, but Xie An knew his lover and there was no way his lover would think that about him.
Chang Ru was probably feeling nervous walking with his first time crush as well as being worried that the gossip might affect Xie An's decision of getting together with him.
Xie An silently chuckled, feeling amused to see his ever-strong and confident lover turning out to be so innocent!
If it was his usual lover, he would already be all over Xie An, not like this shy high schooler that did not even dare to hold Xie An's hand.
They walked for a while in silence as the murmuring of the students started to fade away
Chang Ru opened his mouth a few times, like he wanted to say something, but ended up swallowing it back down.
Xie An glanced sideways and raised an eyebrow. "If you frown any harder, your face might get stuck."
Chang Ru blinked. "...Sorry."
Xie An let out a small laugh. "Why are you apologizing?"
"I just..." Chang Ru hesitated, then confessed in a low voice, "I've never liked anyone before. And I'm not very good at this. I don't want to scare you away."
Xie An tilted his head and laughed. "There is no way I would be scared of you. You're... my destined one."
Although the original Xie An was a Beta, he still had compulsory lessons about ABO biology, just in case if there would be any late bloomers.
It was said that there was a special connection in this world, usually only present between an Alpha and an Omega, they called it 'destined one' where they would be instantly attracted to each other and connected on levels that no other could understand.
Even if Xie An was only a Beta, he did not change his mind about them being destined ones.
That made the Alpha stop walking. He turned to face Xie An, finally daring to meet his gaze directly.
His hand twitched at his side.
After a moment, he reached out, slowly, like he was handling something precious.
His fingers barely brushed against Xie An's before pulling back.
"Can I...?" Chang Ru asked, voice hoarse.
Xie An smiled, half-teasing, half-earnest. "You can."
So Chang Ru held his hand, gently, like he wasn't holding just a hand but a promise.
His shoulders relaxed, and the furrow in his brow smoothed out.
Xie An's heart softened.
No matter how many lives passed, his lover always looked at him like this, as if Xie An were the only star in the sky.
But even as they walked quietly, hand in hand, a presence watched from the school's upper window.
Fu Xue stood at the edge of the stairwell, his fingertips clenching the railing until his knuckles turned white.
So that was it.
In this life, Chang Ru didn't look at him at all.
And worse, this seemed to be the first time that he saw such an expression on Chang Ru's face.
This was not right, he should have been looking at Fu Xue, not that ordinary Beta!
He had not done anything different compared to his previous life, the only thing that he had done was to avoid Fan Jian...
Maybe that was it!
Since there was no competition, Chang Ru could not recognize his feelings for him but mistaken it with that Beta.
So... he had to approach Fan Jian again?
This made him hesitant a bit, though they were together in their past life, Fu Xue could not really figure Fan Jian out.
To Fu Xue, Fan Jian was indeed an excellent Alpha, he was the one who appeared when Fu Xue needed someone the most.
So he chose Fan Jian in the end, thinking that this excellent Alpha could provide him with everything he wanted but it did not turn out how he expected at all.
But... he needed to have Chang Ru, the future billionaire!
Meanwhile, Xie An had arrived with 'the help' from Chang Ru.
"Um... Can I... walk you to school tomorrow?" Chang Ru stood outside the gate, fidgeting.
On the way here, he was looking and scanning around, trying to memorize the way to his crush's house.
Of course, how could such action pass Xie An's eyes, but instead of feeling that his lover was being perverted, he was feeling sweet to see how his lover tried so hard to pursue him.
"Hm... Sure!" Xie An smiled brightly before running back home, stunning the Alpha outside the gate.
Chang Ru, who was in a daze because of that smile, snapped back when he saw Xie An at the window waving at him, shooing him to go home.
Chang Ru stupidly waved back, feeling regretful about leaving.
Meanwhile, Xie An shooed him harder.
This stupid man, my parents will be coming home soon! If you stand around any longer, they will find out! He might be beaten!
Xie An's parents were also a rare pair; they were a couple of an Alpha male and a Beta male. Although Betas were similar to normal people in that they lacked pheromones, glands, heat, and rut, they still possessed a reproductive organ, albeit with a significantly lower chance of pregnancy compared to Alphas and Omegas.
Xie An was like a miracle to both of his fathers, so they treasured him as if there was no tomorrow. If they found out Xie An had puppy love, especially with an Alpha, his Alpha dad would likely break Chang Ru's legs because his Alpha dad got his Beta dad pregnant when they just graduated high school!
Though the original Xie An did not worry much that he would get into a high school relationship because he could not be any more ordinary, it was not the same for the current Xie An, their concern was then actually valid.
"I should have gotten his contact!" Xie An complained to himself because he could not call the stupid waving Alpha to tell him to leave.
"Who are you?" A soft, soothing voice rang out behind Chang Ru, making him turn back immediately.
It was a middle-age man with eyes similar to Xie An, his face had soft features looking very kind, also similar to Xie An.
Gulp.
There was no doubt that he just met his future in-law.
Chang Ru froze on the spot.
The man standing before him had gentle eyes and a mild smile, yet somehow, his presence felt heavier than any school principal's.
"You are...?" the man asked again, voice calm but carrying quiet authority.
"I—uh—I'm a friend of Xie An's." Chang Ru straightened instinctively, his posture tense as if he were reporting to a superior. "We just walked home together."
"Walked home together?" The man's lips curved into a knowing smile. "You live nearby?"
"Yes, sir. I mean—no! Not really nearby. I just... walked him back."
"Anyway," the man said kindly, "thank you for walking An An home. He doesn't usually bring friends over."
Chang Ru blinked again. "An An...?"
The man smiled wider. "Ah, you must only know him as Xie An. 'An An' is what we call him at home."
At that exact moment, the window above creaked open.
"Dad! Don't scare him!" Xie An leaned out, glaring down with puffed cheeks. "He's going home already!"
"Oh?" His father looked up, utterly amused. "I was just saying hello."
"Don't 'hello' him!"
Chang Ru, caught between them, wanted to sink into the ground.
"I—uh—thank you, Uncle. I'll get going now!" he said, bowing slightly before practically jogging off. He was not ready to meet his in-laws yet! He hadn't prepared any adequate gift yet!
Xie An's dad watched the retreating Alpha, his expression softening. Then he looked up at the window again.
"So who was he?" he asked Xie An teasingly.
Xie An puffed up. "He's nice! Don't tell Papa yet, or he'll freak out!"
The man chuckled under his breath. "Your Papa will definitely freak out."
And as the door closed behind him, he was still smiling.
The house was quiet, Xie An's Alpha dad hadn't come home yet.
He hung his jacket by the door and called up the stairs, "An An, come down for dinner soon. I bought your favorite soup."
"Okay!" Xie An's voice floated down from his room, cheerful and still a little breathless.
The Beta father chuckled softly to himself as he walked toward the kitchen. He could still picture the tall Alpha standing awkwardly by the gate, trying to look calm but obviously nervous. The boy's ears had even turned red.
He seemed earnest, the kind of boy who would walk someone home and mean it.
A good one, perhaps.
Still, the Beta thought wryly, he should be grateful my husband wasn't here yet.
Because if that stubborn Alpha had seen an unfamiliar boy loitering by their gate at dusk, especially one with Alpha pheromones... there might've been a "friendly chat" that ended with someone running for his life.
The Beta father smiled to himself as he stirred the pot on the stove.
Well... if this keeps up, maybe I should stock more tea for our future guest.
Upstairs, Xie An peeked out his window again, making sure the silly Alpha had truly gone. Only when the street was clear did he let out a sigh of relief and a tiny laugh.
