It Started With A Whisper (And That Was When I Kissed Her)
Petty?
Catra huffed as she lugged her suitcase to the bus. She hadn't been on one of these big trips since Emerson was in her care. But Catra promised Adora she'd come, then again she didn't think they'd last this long. Point is, she was here. Emerson was safe with Madame Razz, who had offered to watch her for the weekend. Emerson liked to talk, Razz loved to listen to her talk. It worked.
Catra didn't realize how early she was. Only a couple people had been here, most of which she didn't know. Catra smiled when she saw Bow, sitting with his headphones in, he looked half asleep. He probably was, considering how early their school made them go.
She poked his face with her nails. "Wake up, I'm bored."
Bow hissed a little. "I was having a great dream I'll have you know."
"Don't care." Catra jested, sitting down next to him. Bow rolled his eyes. "I thought these weren't your thing. You never come on trips."
"I'm doing this for Adora, she guilt tripped me into doing it."
"Or maybe you just like the idea of traveling on a 12 hour bus ride and four night trip with Adora." Bow stated, smirking. "I mean it's not much different from her I'm sure."
"I don't know what you're going on about. I'm going because I want to. This has nothing to do with Adora."
"But you just sai-"
"Shut it." Catra told him, rolling her eyes.
"Fine." Bow said, laughing at how in denial his best friend was. "Are you sitting here?"
"Probably, these seats are comfortable and I don't feel like moving."
Bow nodded before sitting back. "You think Adora will be mad?"
"I doubt it. I mean why would she be mad? Trust me, she's not clingy like that. She won't be mad!"
*
Adora was pissed.
Catra was supposed to sit with her! She had been planning this the whole week, she even got Catra's favorite snacks and brought her an extra pillow!
And Catra had the audacity to sit with Bow and not her?!
Now, Adora didn't actually ask Catra to sit with her. Nor did she actually tell Catra what she was planning. She had just assumed Catra would be sitting with her. Which was a bit dumb on her part, but she assumed Catra would want to sit with her.
Was this all just a mistake? Maybe she just accept Lonnie's offer. Especially if her and Catra were never going anywhere.
She had been sitting next to Glimmer, who was snoring so loud she thought she'd die. Glimmer practically crashed when they got in their seats. Catra was a couple seats ahead she was sleeping and her head laid on the window. Adora secretly wished she was a window at the moment.
They were only three hours into the twelve hour trip. This was going to be a long day. And Adora knew exactly what she'd be doing when she got to the hotel.
*
Punching a bag. Catra scoffed when she finally found Adora, in the hotel gym, punching a bag.
"Whose face is on there that your punching it so hard?" Catra joked, giggling a little. Adora didn't give her the same response. Her voice annoyed and angry, Adora told her. "The stupid teachers, Glimmer and her loud ass snoring, You."
Catra didn't appreciate the way she was being talked to. What did she even do? She scoffed. "Fine. see you around then." she muttered. "Since you wanna be an asswhole."
"I'm the asswhole? Really?"
Catra couldn't believe this. "Yes. I come here, for you! And you haven't talked to me since we got here!"
"If you came here for me, you should've sat with me." Adora responded, annoyed. Catra found herself laughing. "That is what this is about?! You're so petty I swear!"
"I'm not being petty! I'm being fair. You should've sat with me, I prepared all week and it really hurt that you decided to sit with someone else." Adora yelled. Catra's expression softened a little. Why was this so important to Adora? "Adora, I-"
"Just forget it." Adora said in a low whisper, grabbing her bag and leaving Catra alone.
*
It was two days into the four day trip. All of those days, Catra and Adora didn't talk to each other.
Adora had just gotten out of the shower, she was still upset. Angry or Sad? She couldn't tell anymore.
"Hey Adora," She heard someone say in a low whisper. But that wasn't Catra's voice.
"Lonnie? What do you want." She asked, confused and less mad. Lonnie smirked a little, "I heard there's trouble in paradise. I'm available if you want."
"No thanks. We're fine." Adora said, trying to walk out of the bathroom. But Lonnie blocked her entrance, "I know you want this, me. But you're just in denial. That's okay." Lonnie got closer and kissed Adora's check. She whispered in her ear. "Meet me at the hot tub tonight if you change your mind."
