Yan Windbreaker X M Reader X Yan M Oc

The days that followed passed more gently than M/n expected.

Every morning, they woke up early. Jay would prepare a simple breakfast, and they’d eat quietly — a silence that felt peaceful, not awkward. M/n gradually got used to housework — sweeping, doing dishes, folding clothes. Even when clumsy hands knocked over a cup or spilled water, Jay never scolded. He just quietly cleaned up and showed M/n how to do it right.

Jay remained as quiet as ever, but something in his gaze began to shift. The way he looked at M/n when M/n smiled — it was softer, slightly dazed, maybe even nervous. He never crossed a line, but every time M/n scraped a finger, Jay would hold it just a little longer while applying a bandage. When M/n coughed late at night, he’d silently lay another blanket over M/n without a word.

One day, M/n joked, “Are you my mom or something?”

Jay paused, then simply said, “If you need me to be, I can.”

And on those afternoons after bike training, when M/n sat catching his breath and Jay handed over a cold bottle of water, the tenderness in Jay’s eyes made M/n’s chest tighten.

Jay is too kind. Too patient. Too gentle… it almost scares me.

One evening, M/n passed by Jay’s room — the door was slightly ajar. Inside, Jay was leaning against the wall, a warm desk lamp casting light on a sketchbook. Drawn on the page was a soft outline… of M/n, sitting on the porch with a stray cat.

M/n paused… then walked on without a word.

No one mentioned it.

And that’s when Jay realized — he had fallen in love with M/n.

Not pity. Not the protective instinct over someone fragile. But real, deep affection.

But Jay didn’t say it.

Because he knew M/n was still learning how to stand on his own. And if Jay stepped in too quickly, M/n might start leaning again.

So he stayed — close enough for M/n to lean on if needed, far enough to let him fly if he chose.

[3 MONTHS LATER]

“Jay, where are you going?”

M/n’s soft voice called out from behind the door, making Jay pause as he was tying his shoelaces. He turned around and saw M/n leaning against the doorframe, face still sleepy and hair slightly tousled from just waking up.

Jay stood up, adjusted the strap of his sling bag over his shoulder.

“Stay home and watch the place, okay? I’m heading to the bookstore.”

M/n tilted his head slightly. “Be careful, alright? I’ll wait for you to eat!”

Jay’s lips curled into the faintest smile — barely there, but sincere. He nodded, his eyes softening.

“Mm.”

With that, he stepped outside, pulled his cap down snugly, and slipped on his black cycling gloves. He wheeled his bicycle out from under the porch, one hand gripping the handlebar, the other carefully closing the front door behind him.

Before leaving, he glanced back once more — M/n was still standing there, eyes shimmering under the soft morning light.
