(v) to realize that every person is living their own unique life

◇─◇──◇───◇──◇─◇

It's just been one day, one day and everything is already in chaos. Y/n was taking up more paperwork and calls ever since Kenji disappeared out of thin air. Y/n hated the fact that he didn't know where Kenji was. He is protective of his friends and knowing that one could be in trouble ached him.

Y/n groaned to himself as he leaned back in his chair for the first time that day. He was working overtime, and he knew it. His body was aching from sitting in the chair for so long as his stomach was sore from not eating for hours. He had errands to run, papers to fill out, and missing files to finish, all while he sent out goons to try and find Kenji in the meantime. He hadn't heard any good words yet.

"Hey, have you read the morning papers?!" Kunikida called out as he stormed into the office, frizzled about the chaos as well.

"It's on the news," Dazai said cooly as he and a few others in the office watched the TV they had.

Y/n got up from his chair as he too went to see the news. "It must be what all the calls are about..." He claims.

"We're at the crime scene!" The new reporter said. "Let's take a look... A seven-story building vanished without a trace in just a night! According to certain sources, the Port Mafia's front company is based within the vanished building. Other sources claim that said company was being used as an office by members of the Mafia.

"The City Police suspects this to be an attack perpetuated by an enemy syndicate, requesting help from the Military Police..."

"Is this the 'message'?" Kunikida questioned under his breath.

"The uncooperative Detective Agency and the Mafia are no longer of use... So, he's gonna destroy us both...?" Dazai predicted.

"Kenji can't be found anywhere in the dorms!" Tanizaki claims.

Y/n grit his teeth. "Of course, he couldn't...." He started to walk away. "How vile..."

"Tanizaki!" Kunikida yelled. "Starting from now, don't go anywhere unaccompanied. Pair up with Atsushi and search for Kenji. Dazai and I have a meeting with the director in the conference room. If you run into an enemy, don't fight. Just run!"

Y/n glances at Kunikida who kept calling out to the office workers to stay safe and not to outside alone. He couldn't help but roll his eyes, bitter at the fact that Kenji was still missing. However, he needed to make an errand run anyways. So, he left the office, quietly and silent. He left without anyone knowing he even opened the door.

Y/n walks around the farmers market as he looked from the fruits and vegetables. He would pick up one, spin it around before deeming it unfit to eat. He seems to be uncaring about the danger that was around him. Continuing with his day, Y/n wondered.

As Y/n continued to buy foods and sweets for his friends, he suddenly bumped into someone. Saying a small apology, Y/n was suddenly cut off when he looked up at the person he bumped into. The person was only slightly taller than him, but what caught Y/n's eyes was the extremely long black hair.

"My apologies..." The man muttered, his voice raspy and worn out. "...I'm still trying to... get used to humans' walking patterns."

Y/n blinked for a moment at the man's odd way of talking. However, he then smiled. "Well, humans' walking patterns differ from person to person," he says. "It'll be hard to fixate on one."

The man gave Y/n's his full attention. He reached his hand out in an inviting gesture. "Lovecraft. I believe that we are on the same page here."

"Charmed~" Y/n smiled as he placed his hand in Lovecraft's, to which the other gave a playful kiss on his knuckles. "L/n Y/n, but everyone calls me Y/n. If you want to learn more about humans, doing so on the side of the road is the hardest way to go about it."

Lovecraft gave a small hum, he let Y/n hold onto his arm as they walked around the market. "Humans are particular beings. One's I cannot understand. I find them odd."

"Odd is definitely a word to escribe them, but they are magnificent creatures. Full of pride and purity, yet humility and sin. Humans have no right to be on this world and yet they fought their way to stay here."

"They are a prey species turned predator. It's only natural for them to stay. Humans don't know what they are and yet they still push boulders uphill while a bridge is for them a mile away. Such fragile creatures that cycle through life. Live for a sort while then die the next."

"Oh, but that's the beauty in them, Lovecraft," Y/n smiled as he leaned closer to the taller male. "Humans do so much in their lifetime yet they feel like they did nothing at all. Exploration, crafting, building, socializing. They make art every day without realizing it and, by the gods, love is everywhere for them. From the tallest statutes of Greeks down to the smallest fish's scales."

"But they are just humans."

"Exactly, dear. Humans are what make a human, human."

"Fascinating," Lovecraft whispered to himself as his gaze kept at Y/n. "Are humans that beautiful to you, dear Y/n? Have they earned your undivided attention?"

Y/n chuckled. "I would like to believe so." He lets out a sigh. "They cannot simply be put into a few words."

Lovecraft stared at Y/n for a moment longer than normal. "You're not human, aren't you?" Y/n paused as he looked at Lovecraft, his hair splitting for his view. "You... are a magnificent creature... a monster of beauty." He tucked a piece of Y/n's hair out of the way so that he could see Y/n's eyes better. "Truly, something I have never seen before. What are you really, Y/n?"

"You're getting too ahead of yourself, Lovecraft," Y/n claims as he gently pushes Lovecraft's hand away from him and stepped away from the taller male. "I am what I present. I am human, nothing more."

"Human... Merely a human..." Lovecraft said to himself. He was about to say more but he saw a glimpse of his blond co-worker in the corner of his eyes. The softness left and was replaced with a stern look. "You must go."

"What?"

Lovecraft looked at Y/n with a solemn look. "I was on a mission, and that mission was to capture you. However, I fear that will ruin your spirit. But... I adore your spirit. So, go - go now, before the Guild finds you."

"Lovecraft, thank you," Y/n said towards the inhuman male. "May we meet again."

"May we meet again, my dear monster."

Y/n was quick to hide in a nearby alleyway. He laid low as he watches Lovecraft stride to his co-worker and lead them away from him. Y/n couldn't help but let out a small breath, as he looked down at the food that was still in his hand. Shaking his head, Y/n decided to head back to the Agency even with the short amount of food.

Y/n couldn't help but think back to what Lovecraft said about him, mostly on how he said it to him. Lovecraft wasn't entirely human, that was apparent. Y/n guessed that was why he and Lovecraft clicked immediately. However, he did wish that he could've continued his talk with Lovecraft.

'My spirit, huh?' Y/n thought to himself as he pushed himself off of the wall and walked deeper into the alleyway. 'What an ugly thing to compliment on.'

However, Y/n's thoughts were cut short when he heard mumbling at the other end of the alleyway. Having nowhere else to go but forwards, Y/n slowly creped further into the alleyway. His eyes then widened when he notices a certain boss with a child by his side and a puddle of blood in front of him.

"Hm?" The little girl hummed, turning around and noticing Y/n. She pointed at him in a childish manner. "Hey, look, there's a person here!"

Y/n couldn't help but have been startled by the girl's tone and snitching. However, Mori, could care less as he turned around and noticed that Y/n was standing there with his hair tucked on one side and a bag in his hand.

"Y/n?" Mori questioned.

"Mori...?" Y/n breathed out, almost in shock to see Mori out in the open. "I... didn't expect you to be a family person, Mr. Devil." He glanced at the little girl beside Mori.

"Hey! Don't rope me in with Rintaro here!" The girl claims loudly. "My name's Elise and if you're here to cause trouble go right ahead. I could care less anyways."

Y/n stared at Elise for a moment. "You're just an ability. You're... 'Rintaro's ability, aren't you?"

Almost like a snap of a finger, the bratty personality of 'Elise' was washed away with a dull eyed girl. Y/n watched at Elise stepped away and let Mori stand in front of her. Y/n looked at Mori, as the Mafioso strides up to him with a fond smile.

"Observant as ever, aren't you, doll?" Mori commented, he raised his hand as his knuckles carefully caressed Y/n's cheek.

"Mr. Devil..." Y/n smiled as he then smacked Mori's hand away. "...don't touch me." He stepped back as he crossed his arms. "What is this? Some sort of hit you're covering up."

"An assassin, one that was sent from the Guild. I'm sure you've heard of them."

Y/n glared at Mori. "Yeah... All to 'well'."

Right when Mori was about to speak again, shouting form the other side of the alleyway could be heard. Y/n flinched at the yelling as he backed up to a wall. Shouting was heard and fast footsteps echoed throughout the alleyway. Peeking from around the corner, Y/n could see some of the Guild's goons running away, and right past the alleyway he was in.

Y/n let out a small sigh of relief. "Damnit..." He whispered to himself.

"The Guild is after you and the agency, aren't they?" Mori asked.

"Yeah," Y/n spat. "What's it to you?"

Mori reached his hand out to Y/n. "I could be of help to you. I can provide you protection, if you so desire."

Y/n flicked his wrist, lightly smacking Mori's hand once again. "Good thing I don't desire it. I have to get going, Mr. Devil. I have places to be."

"Now, now, doll-" Mori was cut off when a goon came up to him. The goon whispered into his ear for a moment before he nods and waves his hand in dismissal. "Alright, I'll leave you be for now, doll. But just so you know, my doors are always opened to you, my dear."

Mori bowed towards Y/n in a playful manner. He turned his heel and walked off, away from Y/n and out of the alleyway. Y/n was left to his lone some. He stared at the spot that Mori left, frowning.

Y/n looked up at the clouded skies, wondering what the future has for him. He took in a sigh as he shrugged. He shook his head and continued his way back to the agency, stepping over the puddle of blood and deciding not to report it. He had other stuff to be busy with anyways.

[A/N: GOD I love Lovecraft, I think I just love the background/side characters of shows but still love him.
I also did research on Mori's and Lovecraft's ability. Lovecraft is Cthulhu! That octopus god thingy like omg!
BUT Mori's ability is named after a book that was BANNED FROM JAPAN because of how explicit it is, and Elise is based off Elise from "The Dancing Girl" WHO GOT PREGGO FROM THE MC OF THE BOOK AND THE MC LEFT HER TO BE A DOCTOR LIKE - WHAT??
Anyways, thought I would share <3]
