It Started With A Whisper (And That Was When I Kissed Her)

Dumb,Dumber, and Dumbest

cup532

Okay. It was lunch. Adora had asked Catra to sit at her lunch table which Catra hesitantly agreed to. Despite popularity, Catra kind of kept to herself.

Catra already knew Bow, so she only had to get along with Glimmer. The other members of their friend group, the rebellion, didn't have the same lunch time as them or just didn't sit with them. That was fine, Adora wasn't fond of too many people in one place. Plus, Glimmer and Bow were the only ones that knew of their fake relations.

By the end of lunch, Catra had come to the realization that all three of them were idiots. She was quite sure they all shared a tiny brain cell, and it was Bow's.

She had been stared at all day. Even pulled aside by her friends, being asked what had happened or why she was hanging out with weirdos. Catra's replies always varied between her story she had come up with this morning, or some dumb excuse.

The day had been okay. People seemed to believing the whole fake dating thing. Catra assumed the real kicker that sold it completely was when Adora touched her ass third period, squeezing it a little. Catra had consented to it, but it she kind of regretted doing so because she let out a little whine on accident. She'd never be hearing the end of that joke from Adora.

But all in all, She had been having fun.

Maybe too much fun.

No way was she letting herself catch feelings. Feelings lead to failure. Plus it went against the rules.

At the end of the day, Catra found herself in Adora's car, Adora driving to the elementary school to pick up Emerson. She told Adora, multiple times, that she could just walk. And She'd done that every other day. But Adora insisted, something about Catra needing energy to win her big track meet.

That was a lie. In honesty, Adora just enjoyed Catra's company. They had kissed a couple times today so people believed their relations were real. Each kiss made Adora's heart beat super fast. Catra was a good kisser, her lips felt really great on Adora's. She liked it more than she should've. She also liked the amount of PDA she was giving and sometimes getting in return.

Catra wasn't as touchy as Adora, which was fine. Catra seemed to like Adora's touches, Catra would definitely tell her if she didn't. For example, she slapped Adora's face when the blonde touched her tail. Catra had apologized after, explaining magicat tails are super sensitive and if you touch or mess with it the wrong way it could leave someone paralyzed.

It could also make a magicat really horny.

Catra didn't tell her that, Adora had just looked it up.

Once Adora had dropped Catra and Emerson off, she made her way back home. It wasn't too far, and Adora didn't mind the drive, she had to practice her driving anyway. It was nice.

When she got home, she was ambushed by Glimmer. "Hi!" She yelled, making Adora flinch. "Do you really have to be that loud?"

"Yes."

Adora rolled her eyes and opened her house door. "Hey mom?" she called.

No response.

"Must be at work."

Her mom was a nurse that worked crazy hours. But Adora knew her mother would alway be there if she needed her. That was always a comforting thought.

Adora and Glimmer made their way upstairs and sat down in Adora's room.

"So how was it spending the day with a Catra?" asked Glimmer. Adora shrugged. "It was pretty great, other than having to listen to people ask her why me. As if I'm not super cool."

"Catra always defended me though. So that was nice. I also got to know her more. And kissing her was really nice" Adora added, blushing. Glimmer looked at Adora with a raised brow.

"Are you sure this is just fake relations?"

"Yes. Why?"

"I don't know, I guess you just seem really into it."

Adora scoffed. "I'm not. It's all a process, Glim. You act like you aren't the same with Bow."

"Yeah, but I'm not fake dating Bow."

"Yeah but you won't admit your feelings to him, will you?"

"This isn't about me!" Glimmer exclaimed. "This is about you, getting attached on literally the first day. What happened to wanting to get back with Lonnie? Not that I support you and Lonnie, but you need to get your priorities straight."

"How am I supposed to get my priorities straight if I'm not even straight?" Adora fell back on her bed laughing at her own joke. Glimmer rolled her eyes. "I'm serious, Adora. What's going to happen when this ends? You're going to be back into a relationship we both know was toxic as hell?"

Adora sighed.

"I hate it when you're right."

"What about this one?" Bow asked, showing Catra the picture through the facetime. They were currently looking for pictures she could use to officially post their relationship. Over the past couple days, Glimmer and Bow had been taking pictures of the two. "Adora has her eyes closed." Catra returned as she combed through Emerson's hair.

"This one?"

Catra's ears twitched a little before she looked to her phone again. It was a more simple picture, a picture she had taken. A simple mirror photo she took in the school bathroom. That was definitely more her style in comparison to Bow and Glimmer forcing her to wear a dress.

"That could work, caption ideas?"

"You could just call her an idiot." Emerson suggested, making Bow and Catra giggle. "You know me so well!"

"Just sent it to you, Catra." Bow told her.

"Thanks! I gotta to put this one to bed, I'll call you back in a little bit."

After saying her goodbyes, Catra hung up and began her little night routine. She helped her sister wash up, then read her a story, resulting in Emerson going to sleep in around half an hour. That was easy enough, Catra had become pretty good at the whole 'Older sister that acts like you mother' shit. She'd been doing it for a year and a half so she learned a lot. And Emerson was a good kid, much better than she was at the age of seven. It made things easier.

Catra smiled a little bit a she got in the shower. She had a good day. Technically, these past few days had been the best days in a while.

[..]

Catra rolled her eyes at Bow's embarrassment as she put her shirt on. As if he hadn't seen her before. "You do realize I'm not going to get mad, right? You were like my first friend."

"I know, but you're a lesbian and I'm a man. I just don't want to be disrespectful!"

"You overthink too much. But you can look now." Catra told him.  She had called him back and he answered immediately, making Catra worry about his social life. He was lying on his bed now. "I'm so tired. I don't want to move." He told her.

"Don't forget to take your binder off. I'd be very sad if your respiratory system collapsed." She said as she brushed through her hair.

"Omg! Catra cares about someone?"

"Tell anyone that and I'll deny it." Catra retorted. Bow nodded, giggling a little. "Speaking of people you care about, what's up with you and Adora?"

"What do you mean?" She asked, confused. Bow frowed a brow. "You guys are way too close to be faking. Are you guys secretly not fake dating?"

Catra shook her head. "It's a fake. So Adora can get her stupid little girlfriend back. That's it."

"And what happens after that? Will you still be friends?"

"I.. didn't think about that." Catra admitted. "Whatever, that a question for future Catra."

Bow nodded, giving up on the subject. Good. Catra didn't want to talk about it.

Catra watched as Bow's facial expression changed, as if he was thinking about something. "What's up." Bow didn't answer, but due to the sigh, Catra knew the answer.

"Dude, she's obviously into you. You've gotta tell her, Arrow. I mean she looks at you like you're the best thing since sliced bread."

"I know." Bow admitted. "I guess I'm just nervous, You know, I'm not.. a real b-"

He was immediately cut off by Catra's glare. "You finish that and I'll punch you through the phone. You are a real boy, and Sparkles loves you no matter what. So don't be a dumbass and ask her out before I steal her away from you. And I totally could."

Bow laughed softly, "Thanks. And no you couldn't."

"Wanna bet?"

"No I do not."

"Good night dumbass."

Catra hung up the phone and sighed as she went to Emerson's bed.

She quietly checked Emerson's heart beat, making sure everything was fine. She did that a lot. Just in case. Em was the only thing she had left. Once she finished, she want to her own bed and lied down.

She huffed as she stared at the hotel ceiling, thinking about Adora. Why? She didn't know. It was fine. he shouldn't be worried.

How long would this possibly last?
