Chapter 6
"Who does that bitch think she is?! Demanding such a thing from me?!!" Sukuna ranted in (Y/n)'s mind. "Yup..." She mumbled lousily, uncaringly. Ever since Makima brought up that "deal", the curse had been non-stop complaining. 'I didn't even answer! Why ask me something if I can't even answer?!' Sukuna exclaimed, earning a sigh from his vessel.
'I say we don't do her- OI! Where the hell are you going?!' Sukuna exclaimed, finally realizing (Y/n) was preparing to leave. "Isn't it obvious? I'm joining Denji and Power in finding that bullet piece. Plus, it's about time we start looking for your nasty fingers" (Y/n) said as she exited her dorm. 'If your ass gets killed, I am NOT rescuing you!' Sukuna spat, earning an "uh-huh..." from his vessel.
Today, unlike normal days, she and her new group, grouped up with Aki and a few other members. Arriving at the sight, Aki walked ahead with a fragment in his hand. (Y/n) stared up at the hotel with a frown, she felt a sense of deja-vu and not the good kind. But, this time, she knows she won't be the one dying this time... Hopefully. Then again, Sukuna might just let her die, just to prove a point, then revive her after taunting her a bit.
"It's lurking somewhere within those walls, and since it probably ate a piece of the Gun Devil, this sucker won't be your garden variety. "What if it's actually the Gun Devil in there?" Denji asked curiously. "The Gun Devil would sit in a crappy hotel? What a lousy spot" (Y/n) commented as she tilted her head. "Idiots, it's not sitting in there, if it was, the piece I'm holding would have more of a pull" Aki growled as he glared at the two.
"It was just a question, no need to get snappy" Denji grumbled as he glared to the side. "Knealed at the chunk, it amuses me!" Power said as she raised her hand. "More pull?" (Y/n) mumbled, as she imagined herself getting pulled to a finger, and Sukuna munching on it. 'Dumbass, that's not how that works!' Sukuna exclaimed, clearly pissed off by her analogy.
"May I have a word, sir? Can we really entrust our backs to the newcomers? Considering we'll soon fight one devil, if not more. One's a fiend, one is some hoodlum, and the last doesn't even look prepared for what's to come. I'm having serious doubts" Arai said as he eyed the three. "Fiend... Hoodlum..." (Y/n) mumbled as she pointed at Power and Denji. "Eh?! Why do you guys keep underestimating me?!" She complained as she pointed at herself.
"'Tis thinks it's because of thy positivity," Power said, as she pointed at (Y/n). "Yeah, I think so too, I've never met one person who's this happy in this field of work" Denji noted as he stared up at the sky. "What's wrong with being happy?" (Y/n) asked, slightly offended. "Nothing, just odd" Power slightly reassured her, earning a cute pout from (Y/n). Power felt herself blush slightly, and quickly turned away from her.
"We're trusting them to watch our backs, they'll generally take point when we're on extermination missions. If either tries to run or double-cross us. Then they die on the spot" Aki reassured Arai. "We can hear you, you know" (Y/n) grumbled as she glared at Aki. "Boo, quit treating us as if we're livestock," Power said, but her facial expression remained neutral.
"What's got up his ass?" (Y/n) whispered to Denji and Power. "I don't really know, I think he's pissed about this morning" Denji whispered back. "This morning? What happened this morning?" (Y/n) asked curiously. "We live with him, he says we pester him too much" Power explained to her. "But, then again, that prank was a little too far..." Denji mumbled, earning a hum from Power.
"Pranks aren't nearly that vial!! Go to hell!!" Aki exclaimed, clearly having overheard their conversation. "Come on, what did they even do? Plus, you can't be strict with them all the time, Aki" Himeno scolded her friend. "That's right! I still haven't forgiven you for leaving me to die to that devil!" Denji exclaimed as he pointed at (Y/n).
"But she saved Meowy, so all is forgiven," Power said, earning a glare from Denji. "Saving Meowy was my task! Not only did you leave me to die, but you also took the glory of my boob groping!!" Denji yelled as he went back to glaring at (Y/n). "Boob... Groping?" Aki mumbled with a look of disgust, as he glanced at them.
"Girls, girls, if it's a reward, how about this? The lucky hunter who sends this devil to its grave wins an amazingly sweet smoocharo from mwah!" Himeno said with a smile and her arms outstretched. "Wha-" "WHAT?!" Denji and Arai exclaimed with bright blushes on their face. "Eh? No offense, but I don't really want a kiss" (Y/n) said with an apologetic smile.
"Yeah, I'll have to pass too, but don't worry, I got plenty of morale," Denji said before glancing back at (Y/n). "If I end up killing this devil, I want to kiss you," he said boldly as he pointed at her. "Eh?! I- Um... Sure...?" (Y/n) said, unsure, earning a loud groan of annoyance from Sukuna. 'Idiot! Don't agree to that!' He scolded her, earning a small "sorry" from her. "I want in on this" Power said as she raised her hand.
"Not if I kill the devil first!" Denji exclaimed as he ran ahead, heading into the hotel. "Get back here!" Power called as she ran after him. (Y/n) sweatdropped as she watched the two push at each other, they didn't even stop as they scouted out the rooms. "Hey! You two! Come back! Don't go off on your own!!" Arai exclaimed as he ran after them.
"I have a feeling I shouldn't have said sure" (Y/n) mumbled to herself. 'Why did you say sure in the first place?!' Sukuna yelled at her, giving her a slight migraine. "Ow... No need to yell" (Y/n) grumbled as she smacked her head. "What are you doing?" Aki asked as he eyed her oddly. "Nonya" (Y/n) said as she childishly stuck her tongue out at him.
"She's got spunk, I like you kid," Himeno said as she attempted to wrap her arm around (Y/n). But, having gotten used to Satoru's childish antics, she was able to dodge the arm. "Please, excuse me" (Y/n) mumbled as she went around them and headed off to catch up with the arguing trio. Higashiyama ran after her, in hopes of dispelling the argument.

They had been traveling for over an hour now, and so far, there was no sign of a devil. "Hey... You sure your metal chunk of yours ain't busted?" Denji asked, getting slightly bored from the lack of action. 'Stop, a devil is on its way' Sukuna warned, causing (Y/n) to stop in her tracks. "Huh? How do you know?" (Y/n) mumbled, looking a bit confused.
"I see she can sense it too, heads up, it's coming" Himeno warned, as she eyed (Y/n) briefly. On cue, one of the doors opened and a creepy devil walked out. "Eh?" (Y/n) mumbled with a blank look, why was the devil so... Small? In an instant, it pounced at Higashiyama. On instinct, (Y/n) smacked it with her fist, exploding it on impact, instantly killing it.
Higashiyama fell backward in fright, she most likely have seen her life flash before her eyes. "Awh, I wanted to kill it" Power whined as she pouted. "Nice one" Himeno complimented, a bit surprised by how fast the newbie moved. "What a weak devil, is our mission over?" (Y/n) asked as she looked down at the devil's corpse. 'Idiot, that's not the devil we're after' Sukuna scolded her in her thoughts. Although she can't see it, she can tell his hand is covering his face.
"This devil doesn't even have the piece in it," Aki said as he hovered the bullet over the corpse. "I don't need two people nagging me!" (Y/n) exclaimed as she glared at him. "Don't worry, we'll run into it soon" Himano reassured her as she marched forward. As they headed up to the next level, only one being noticed the lack of change in the floor number.
'Stop walking, look at the floor number' Sukuna ordered her, earning a confused "huh?" from his vessel. But, she obliged and looked to the floor number, and her eyes widen. "Wait... What?" She mumbled out loud, gaining the group's attention. "Hey, what's the hold-up?" Denji asked, sounding impatient, as he wants to kill the devil quickly.
"The floor... We're... Still on the same floor" (Y/n) clarified as she pointed to the floor number. "What? We were on the 8th floor going to the 9th-..." Arai trailed off as he read the floor sign. "Hold on, I'm going to double-check!" He said as he rushed down the stairs. "Huh/Hm?" The group hummed in confusion as they noticed Arai entering the room from the top floor.
"Woah, that's so trippy! Oh! I know! It's like an optical illusion!" (Y/n) chirped in excitement. "(Y/n), this isn't a game!" Aki exclaimed as he glared at her. "N...No! No, no, no!" Higashiyama mumbled in fright, instantly going into a panic. "If it's not a game, then why is she going down the steps too?" (Y/n) asked as she pointed at Himeno, who wanted to test out the illusion.
'This is like a lousy setup to a joke. I think it goes like this: How many hunters does it take to figure out they're stuck on the 8th floor? None, because they're too closed-minded to actually figure it out!' Sukuna cackled at his lame joke. "It's not all that funny..." (Y/n) mumbled as she glared to the side. "AHH!!" Higashiyama started screaming, now having a full-on meltdown.
'I'll admit, as much as I enjoy the screams of anguish, she's getting rather annoying' Sukuna grumbled. "Honesty, why is she here if she's going to just scream at everything?" (Y/n) mumbled, as she eyed Aki pointedly. "I'm not the one who recruited her" Aki clarified, knowing that (Y/n) was mocking him from when they first met.
With a huff, Aki headed over to a room, checking to see if they can escape from there. 'Oh, yes, the rooms are going to help!' Sukuna commented sarcastically. "If you're going to complain, you might as well help them" (Y/n) said as she glared to the side again. Sukuna grumbled something, but she couldn't understand him, and he decided to go quiet.
