Building The Unsure Glow Up Series 2
"How was your date with him?" Mom asked as we are eating breakfast. Last night when Sam sent me home, mom is already asleep so she was not able to ask me about the whole dinner date. And now that it's morning, she really wanted me to have breakfast with her just to ask me about last night.
"It was okay, talked about few things." I replied before taking a spoonful of my cereal.
"That's great, such us?" Mom asked, I slowly lift my head up and gulp.
"Well ahm... college, he said he's about to graduate senior high school soon and will be entering college." I said and mom hums,
"That's good, two of you also talked about living together?" Mom asked, I bit my lower lip and slowly nods.
"Yes, we talked about that." I shortly replied before looking down on my food.
"What did you two talked about? Living together soon? Such as? Do you two have any plans?" Mom continuously ask, I grip tight on my spoon as I begun to get annoyed with the conversation.
Why is she even asking me that? I know in the end she's always the one who makes decision. She's always the one who make plans for me. She controls my life. I don't have the control on my own life because she have the grip of it. If I make plans now, I know it will be ruined by her soon so what's the point of making decisions.
"Well, living together, maybe in the morning he will send me to my own school or if the two of us goes to the same school, we will go together." I replied and mom nods. Clearly I just made that up, I know that's what she wanted to hear. That me and Sam have plans together in the future. Something a sweet couple with do. She just wants to know that what she wanted is being done.
I quickly finished my cereals and immediately run upstairs. I locked my door as I hope mom don't bug me again. I sat on a chair in front of my study table and begun watching random videos online. Some cute cat videos that I always adore.
"Wonder if I can get a cat?" I asked my self as I pause the videos and look at the blank wall.
I shrug, "Mom will probably not let me have one. She will be annoyed by the cats." I said as I resume the video. Few seconds of continue watching, an idea popped in my head and I immediately pick up my phone from the side and dialed Sam's number.
"Pick up, pick up!" I chanted, with four rings, he finally picked up.
[Hey, why are you calling 9 in the morning?] he asked with a morning hoarse voice.
He just woke up? What a sleepy head.
"Get up," I said and I hear his confused hum. [What? Why?] I hear few ruffling sound from the other line which I supposed he's moving on his bed.
"Is your mind up?" I asked and he hum.
[Yeah, it is.] he replied and I nod.
"So... if ever, we really live together in the future, I will take care of cats! Okay? No buts! I don't care if you're allergic to them! I will make the house a cat shelter, I don't care if you don't like them! Because I like them!" I said as I sounded like someone who's lecturing him. Do I really want a cat? I've never had a pet cat since mom doesn't want, but I want to!
Then I hear him chuckle, [Damn Lory, it's 9 in the morning and you're planning things about the future for us. Sure sure, do what you want to do. It will be our house anyways.] he replies from the other line and I nod.
"Okay okay, you can now go back to sleep! Bye!" I said before ending the and excitedly calling the next number.
"Come on Ali, pick up!" I said as I excitedly bounce my legs.
[Hello beh? Good morning.] she answers with her hoarse voice too.
"Did you just woke up?" I ask before looking at the time, it's 9:41 in the morning.
[Yep, puyat kagabi.] she shortly replied and I nod.
"So, so ganito! Me and Sam already talked na kapag magkasama na kami sa iisang bahay, I will take care of cats! I really want to take care of cats, but sadly I can't right now cause mom will surely be annoyed at the cats." I said and she hums,
[Gaga ka girl, alas nuebe ng umaga nang-iinggit ka ng love life mo. Edi sana all diba?] she said from other line which made me giggle,
[Pero at least ha, I can see a progress in the thing between the two of you. You're starting to plan things in the future with him.] she said which made my smile drop.
"Huh? With him? No no, Ali, I am just thinking of myself, Wala akong pake sa kaniya." I said, clearing things out. "Why would I plan things with him for the future? Yuck!" I exclaimed but she burst out laughing.
[Gaga, ano? You said, you and Sam talked about it. So... planning together?] she ask and my eyes widened.
"Ali 'no! We are not planning together, nagpaalam lang ako sa kaniya na once we start living together, I will take care of cats, cause they're cute!." I said trying to clear it to her.
[Oh, nagpaalam? Why would you make paalam to him diba? Yiee!! Ikaw ha! The Lory I know don't care about what people think, now you made paalam na!!! Yiee! Bestie!!] she shouted from the other line which made me push the phone away from my ears.
"Bahala ka nga, nakakainis ka!" I said before pressing the end button. I place down my phone on the table with a frown on my face before continue watching the video.
Few minutes later, I hear a car engine starts. I rush to my terrace and see if what car is leaving. I saw mom and tito Thiago enter the Mercedes Benz and it drove off. My eyes widened and I jump back inside my room. I turn off my laptop before rushing downstairs. I can finally eat peacefully now!
I went to the kitchen and open the pantry to look for food. I grab an unsealed pack of cookies, I also grab a pint of vanilla ice cream before bringing it to my room. While eating the foods I got, I watch some movie series in my large TV and enjoyed my time alone.
I decided to sleep around 11AM which made me miss lunch but it's fine. I hope Theo ate with some maids so he won't feel alone.
I woke up around 2PM, I was planning to take a dip in the pool but the heat is so strong so I just took a shower.
I was picking my clothes to wear and was about to pick a comfortable clothes when I suddenly got an idea. Instead of pajama, I pick a short from Chanel and a top from Celine. I dried my hair and applied creams on my face for protection from the heat since it's summer.
After getting ready, I grab a small backpack and put my things inside before heading out my room where I saw Theo in the hallways.
"Hey, you okay?" I softly ask and he slowly nod.
"Yes just... a bit nervous." he replied and my brows furrowed.
"Nervous about what?" I asked, he pouted, "High school, is it really that scary ate?" he ask and I squinted my eyes.
"It's not, you will be okay in high school, Theo. Specially you're going to OLLA, you'll be okay there." I said before walking towards him and giving him a kiss on the forehead.
"Ate will just be out, call me when something came up, okay?" I said and he nods, I give him a smile and ruffle his hair before going down the stairs.
I'm at the garage when I decided to call Inin first to ask him where he is. "Hey, nasaan ka now?" I asked when he picked up, [Hello? Andito na kami sa trabaho ni papa.] he replied and I nod.
"Okay okay, I'll be there." I said before ending the call, I hop on my motor and went out the gates.
When I arrived at the place, I immediately saw tito Ray wave at me.
"Inin, si Lory!" Tito shouted from the top of the building.
"Tito ingat po kayo diyan!" I said as I went down my motor.
"Oo hija, okay lang si tito dito!" Tito shouted, he gave me a smile and I gave him back a one.
"Wuy, ano gawa mo diyan?" I said as I enter their hut, I saw him preparing some iced coffee, but it's three.
"Malapit na mag miryenda sila papa. Gusto ni papa ng malamig na kape eh, masyadong mainit sa taas." he said before lifting his head up and smile at me.
"Ahm... ilan ba sila na nagtatrabaho?" I asked and he tilt his head a bit.
"Ano... thirteen, ang pagkaka-alam ko." he replied and I slowly nod.
"Sige, may bibilhin lang ako, mabilis lang!" I said before rushing out their hut.
"Lory saan ka pupunta?" tito asked, I look up at him and smiled, "May bibilhin lang po." I said before driving off to the nearest grocery.
I bought 8 containers of ice cream that are 1.8 liters per container. I also bought ice cream cones before driving back to their hut. And gladly, when I arrived back in front of the hut, the workers are going down from the site.
"Ice cream po kayo," I said as I pick up the large eco bag from my motor, a worker immediately helped me.
"Naku ma'am, ang dami naman po nito!" he said as he brought the bag to the table outside the hut where Inin and tito is at.
"Para po hindi kayo mabitin." I said and he nods.
"Oh ice cream kayo diyan! Ibinili tayo ni ma'am ng ice cream! Para naman malamigan kayo!" One shouted which made the others laugh.
"Lory nalang po, huwag na ma'am." I said as I suddenly felt shy. Why are they calling me ma'am. They begun opening the tubs of ice cream and every time they would open one, they would get excited and scream which makes me smile. They looks so happy, genuinely happy which makes me happy too. "Diba po anak kayo ni sir Thiago Valdez?" One ask who's already eating an ice cream.
I gave him a smile and nods, "Opo," I shyly answered,
"Naku, bakit ka napapadpad dito ma'am? Baka mainitan ka dito! Tapos masyadong ma-alikabok, alam ko na prinsesang-prinsesa ka sa bahay ninyo." he said which made me giggle, he looks like a happy and jolly person. Maybe he's the joker in their work. "Lory," Inin place a wooden chair behind me, "Okay lang po, wala po kasi akong ginagawa sa bahay." I said as I seat down on the chair Inin gave me.
"Lory ice cream," he handed me an ice cream in cone that I accepted,
"Tsaka parang ang saya-saya niyo po dito." I added before taking a bite of the ice cream.
"Ay oo, sobra, alam mo ba..."
He begun telling stories from their everyday work. And that's when I find myself laughing and smiling with other people, with complete stranger. I used to hate this, I used to hate meeting new people. But for some reason, I feel comfortable with them. I feel like... it's okay to meet new people and laugh with them.
As their break time finished, all the tubs of the ice cream is also finished. When the workers went back to the site, Inin begun collecting the tubs. I immediately stand up from the chair and help him.
"Ang tahimik mo, galit ka ba sa'kin?" I asked him when we entered back their hut, I hand him the other containers and face the direction of the table and that's when I saw two glass of coffee.
"Ahm... kape?" I asked and he look at me and smiled.
"Sige lang, ikaw nalang." he replied and my brows furrowed.
"Galit ka?" he ask and his brows furrowed before shaking his head.
"Hindi 'no, bakit ako magagalit sayo?" he said and I pouted a bit.
"I don't know, ang tahimik mo eh! Baka galit ka." I exclaimed, he smiled before walking towards me and sitting down on a chair.
"Hindi nga, kulit mo naman." he said before reaching for the glass of coffee, I sat down on an empty chair and reach for the other glass.
"Saan ka mag se-senior highschool?" he ask before taking a sip of his coffee.
"OLLA, I don't know what strand though." I replied and he slowly nods.
"Ako kasi wala pa, walang senior high sa TH eh." he said and I look at him before tilting my head.
"Munhigh, meron dun." I said and he squinted his eyes before slowly nodding.
"Doon nalang ako mag-eenroll. Mahal ba sa OLLA?" he ask and I took a sip from my coffee first before slowly nodding.
"It's a private school so maybe a bit pricey than public school. Munhigh is public school." I said and he slowly nods.
"Pwede mo ba ako dalhin dun? Gusto ko lang makita, di pa ako nakakapunta doon eh." he said and I immediately nod.
"Sure! Tara? Now na?" I asked excitedly, that's when he smiled at me before standing up. Itinabi niya lang ang mga baso bago kami lumabas ng bahay nila.
"Pa, may pupuntahan lang kami ni Lory." Paalam nito kay tito habang hawak-hawak ang kaniyang helmet.
"Sige, ingat kayo!" sigaw ni tito, sumakay na kami sa motor at saka ako nagmaneho papuntang Munhigh.
"Lory, ingat, ingat! Mamaya ka tumawid may malaking truck!" He panicked when we reached the highway.
"Oo naman, alam ko." I said before letting a 16 wheeler truck pass by.
"Oh dahan-dahan, dahan-dahan!" he shouted when we cross the road that made me giggle. He's so scared.
"Here, this is Munhigh." I said when we stopped in front of the gate.
"Saan po kayo ma'am?" tanong ng guard, "Good afternoon po, he's planning to enroll here for senior high kaya po tumitingin-tingin muna siya." I replied and the guard nods.
"Ang ganda! Ang laki ng field!" he said while holding onto the gate.
"Diba, maganda dito mag senior high, dito kana." I said and he look at me and smiled before nodding.
"Sige! Magsasabi ako kay papa!" he excitedly said. We stayed there for few more minutes. He's looking around the school and he looks like he's already imagining himself going to this school.
And after that, I sent him back home while I bid goodbye and went back to our house. Pagdating ko ay saka ako kumain ng heavy meal dahil saka ko naramdaman ang gutom.
A week after, Laura decided to go to Manila to apply for the agency that contacted here. Gladly tito Thiago and mom is in Tagaytay because they have some business to do there. So I have no problem on leaving the house and going with them. Our meeting time was 5AM but Gwen caused a delay but we were still able to make it early.
Throughout the whole travel, it was so fun for us. The six of us are complete and everyone is also having fun. It seems like we are having our own road trip since it was a 7-8 hours of travel since Manila is far from Tagkawayan.
It's 3PM when we arrive at the agency, before Laura take the interview, we gave her some few make up touches since she looks haggard from the travel.
"Galingan mo bhie! Kabogin mo girl!" Gwen said when Laura is about to enter the room. I slightly hit Gwen's arm because she's talking so loud which is a bit embarrassing.
Laura gave us a smile before going inside and the five of us are left outside. Ali is the first one to sit on the floor, followed by Jax and Tobi then me and Gwen. We look like abandoned kids there.
"Alam ko na matatanggap siya. Mukhang may lahi si Laura eh." Ali said while looking up at the ceiling.
"Noong elementary palang akala ko talaga may lahi siya." she said, still looking at the ceiling.
She then looked at me which confused me, "Pero si Lory talaga! Lagi akong nakatitig sa buhok niya. Ang ganda kasi! Blonde tapos ang lambot-lambot. Inggit na inggit ako sa buhok niya hanggang ngayon." she said which made me surprised for the sudden compliment.
"And hello!! Yung eyes niya na blue tapos may kaunting green 'no!" she added before giving me a smile.
She then lean her head on the wall, "Pinangarap ko rin maging model nung bata ako, kaso huwag nalang pala." she said before giggling.
My brows furrowed, "Why don't you try now?" I asked and her head snap at my direction and her eyes wide open.
"Gaga ka, hindi na 'no. Hindi ako prepared tsaka kahit mag prepare man ako, ligwak pa rin." she said and my brows furrowed. She's looking down on herself so much.
In the end of the interview, Laura made it! And she is immediately given a manager to manage her of course. Her manager examine her, her manager and other staffs can't stop complimenting her. We can't blame them though. She's really pretty.
We went to MOA after, we ate dinner there and do some small shopping and after that, we proceed on Laura's house here in Manila. Laura's house is very big, bigger than their house in Tagakawayan. I'm shocked to see how big it is but I already expected it will be big since her father owns a company here in Manila.
We took shower one by one, I was the 4th one to take a shower and after is Jax. I'm drying my hair using a towel when I noticed Laura talking to someone through her phone.
"Lory halika dali!" Gwen said who seems listening to Laura that is talking with someone. So even I am confused, I walk towards Gwen and Tobi.
"Love you too, goodnight Jiro." Our eyes widened and look at each other. When we saw Laura about to go back in. We run away from the door of the terrace and wait for Laura to go back inside.
Gwen is giving me a teasing smile before clearing her throat when Laura got back in, I shake my head, this will be a long night to us.
